“Like crabs in a barrel”  is a proverbial phrase that is used to illustrate the “pull-down-crab” mentality. The markets in the Caribbean are a common place to find a bunch of crabs in a barrel waiting to be sold. If you pay close attention to their actions, they will begin to climb up over each other until one reaches the top. While the goal is to hold on to the top and try to escape, others will undoubtedly hang onto the one at the top and attempt to pull it back down.

They say that this is how many cultures operate because instead of helping each other out, stumbling blocks are used to delay freedom and success. “Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it’s just the opposite.”

Although it’s unfortunate that many have been negatively impacted, there is success in the midst of stress. My unique way of thinking encourages me to rise above my struggles and connect to others more experienced to raise my vibration even hire. So does that mean that I am “Like crabs in a barrel”?  Maybe…YES! As a black woman with unique abilities, I will always need a helping hand to reach the next level of success. However, it is through rewarding partnerships; therefore, everyone benefits  – with  Time. Energy. Alliances. Money (T.E.A.M Appreciation!).

Ironically, the best part of winning has no losers so “What you appreciate, APPRECIATE$” …exponentially!
